October 13, 2016 Thursday

We had a parent helper today-  Meier's mom, Gretchen.  Thank you Gretchen!

Here is what we did today:

Choice Time:  We stayed inside and played with a parachute today.  We enjoyed simply shaking it, shaking leaves off of it, and taking turns running underneath it.

Circle Time:  We sang Rise and Shine.  We danced to Stop and Go.  Different leaves were passed around the circle to get a closer look - red, yellow and green pine tree needles.  We read the book Leaves, Leaves, Leaves.  Questions to ask your children about the book - What time of year is it when leaves turn colors? (fall)  What colors do they turn?  (red, yellow, brown, orange and some pine trees have needles that stay green)  What are some fun things to do in the leaves?  (jump, make piles, throw, etc)  We counted 8 squishy bouncy balls in the Mystery Bag.

Snack Time:  For cooking day, we made popcorn with a old fashioned popcorn popper.  Each child got a chance to see the popcorn popper up close.  In addition to popcorn, we had bread and juice.

Center Time:  All of the centers were open.  Many of the children enjoyed using magnifying glasses to take a closer look at leaves and corn and gourds.  Some even used scissors to cut the leaves off of the stems and the pine needles off of the branch.  It made a mess but held many of their interests for quite a long time!

Pictures of the parachute fun are below.  Have a great day!
