Here is what we did today:

Choice time:  We stayed inside and allowed the children to choose between play dough at the table or marching to music with instruments.

(the elephant sneezed and sent the ladybug flying)  Jade helped us count 6 pencils in the Mystery Bag.

Snack:  Jade brought graham crackers and apple juice for snack.  Thank you Jade!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open and there was paint at the easel.

September 22, 2016 Thursday

Here is what we did today:

A spider has been hanging around outside on our way to the playground.  He has been spinning some beautiful webs that have been interesting to see.  Today, he built his web on the outside of the door window.  Everyone got to see him up close without having to worry about him getting too close to them.  Very cool!

Choice Time:  We went outside for Choice Time.

Circle Time:  We sang Rise and Shine.  We danced to Stop and Go.  We read the story Butterfly, Butterfly.  In the story, Lucy was trying to find a butterfly.  Some questions to ask your children about the story - What things did Lucy find on her search besides the butterfly?(earthworm, green beetle, ladybug, spider, dragonfly, caterpillar, snail)  What popped out of the book at the very end of the story?  (a butterfly)  Colin helped us count 8 frogs out of the Mystery Bag.

Snack Time:  Colin brought cheese sticks and strawberry/berry juice for snack.  Thank you Colin!

Notes went home today - picture note and a volunteer meeting reminder.  Please read and if you have any questions, email us to let us know.

Have a great day!  Pictures of one of our lines and the interesting spider are below.

September 21, 2016 Wednesday

Here is what we did today:

A spider has been hanging around on the outside of the preschool building for several days.  He has built beautiful webs that have been interesting to see.  Today the spider was on the window of the door we use to go to the playground.  We took a moment to watch him crawl up and down his web - very cool!

Choice Time:  We went outside for Choice Time.

Circle Time:  We sang Rise and Shine.  We danced to Stop and Go.  We read the story Butterfly, Butterfly by Petr Horacek.  This is a simple story about a girl named Lucy on a butterfly hunt.  Some questions you could ask about the story:  What are some of the things Lucy found in the story besides the butterfly?  (green beetle, ladybug, bumblebee, earthworm, spider, dragonfly, snail, caterpillar)  What was special about the butterfly at the end of the story?  (it popped out of the book and looked like it was flapping its wings)  After the story, Brooke helped us count 8 frogs from the Mystery Bag.

Snack:  Brooke brought cream cheese, pretzel bites and grape juice for snack.  Thank you Brooke!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.

Important papers went home with your children today - permission slips for the pumpkin patch, a note about picture day, and a note about the upcoming volunteer meeting.  Please read and return forms to us as soon as possible.  It really does help us keep things running smoothly!

Have a great day!  Pictures are below including one of our spider.

September 20, 2016 Tuesday

Here is what we did today:

Choice Time:  We went outside for Choice Time.

Circle Time:  We sang Rise and Shine.  We danced to Stop and Go.  We read the story The Hungry Caterpillar.  And Charlie helped us count 7 butterflies out of the Mystery Bag.  Some questions to ask the children:  What are some of the foods the caterpillar ate?  (apple, pears, plums, strawberries, oranges, cake, ice cream, pickle, cheese, salami, lollipop, pie, sausage, cupcake, watermelon)  How did the caterpillar change throughout the story?  (egg, little caterpillar, fat caterpillar, cocoon, butterfly)   You may have noticed that our routine does not change from day to day.  We often are asking the children "What comes next?" and are now starting to get children to answer correctly.  Soon we hope that we will see the children will actually do what comes next without us asking.  It is a process!

Snack Time:  Charlie brought cheese sticks and juice for snack.  Thank you Charlie!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.

Important papers went home today - permission slips for the Pumpkin Patch.  Please return ASAP!  We really appreciate your efforts to get them back to us quickly!

Have a great day!  Pictures are below:

September 19, 2016 Monday

Here is what we did today:

Choice Time:  We went outside for Choice Time.

Circle Time:  We sang Rise and Shine.  We danced to Stop and Go.  We read the story, The Hungry Caterpillar.  And Benjamin helped us count 7 butterflies in the mystery bag.  You probably have noticed that not much changes from day to day with our routine.  We often ask the children, "What comes next?"  and are glad to hear the correct answer.  Next comes showing us that they know what comes next by doing the correct actions and behaviors before we even ask.  It is a process!

Snack Time:  Benjamin brought grapes and milk for snack.  Thank you Benjamin!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.

Pictures are below.  Have a great day!
