October 10, 2016 Monday

Here is what we did today:

Choice Time:  We went outside for Choice Time.  We aren't sure how much longer this nice weather will be here so we are trying to enjoy it as long as it lasts!

Circle time:  We sang Rise and Shine.  We danced to Stop and Go.  We passed around an ear of corn for each of the children to touch and see.  Four new words were introduced pertaining to the corn - husk, silk, kernel, and ear.  We read the book, "Time to Harvest."  After we read the book, we discussed the following questions - What does harvest mean?  (to pick)  What are some things that can be harvested?  (grapes, apples, tomatoes, green beans, broccoli, corn, pumpkins)  What piece of machinery is used to harvest corn?  (combine)  Kenedy helped us count 7 bouncy balls in the Mystery Bag.

Snack:  Kenedy brought cheese and crackers and juice for snack.  Thank you Kenedy!

Center Time:  All of the centers were open.  We brought the ears of corn over to the Center Time area to look at under the magnifying glasses.  Several of the children enjoyed pulling the husk off of the corn in order to get a better view of the kernels.  It required strong muscles to get it all off.  One girl even used scissors!

Important notes went home today regarding the school pictures that were taken at school last month.

And finally, Mrs. Lenbauer introduced a video off of the internet to teach the children the Baby Shark song.  If you would like to access this for yourself the address is - https://youtu.be/R93ce4FZGbc

Enjoy!  (Sorry no pictures today.  We got busy playing!)
