Here is what we did today:
We had a parent helper today - Brooke's mom, Rachel. Thank you Rachel!
Choice Time: We stayed inside for Choice Time due to the weather. The three choices were - Musical Hugs, Tabletop Easels, and Magnets. No child chose the magnets so they were offered again during Center Time and many did play with them then.
Circle Time: We passed around some milkweed pods in the magnifying box. We talked about how butterflies need the milkweed pods to live. Next warm day, we will give each child some of the milkweed seeds to throw into the wind. They are fun to watch float in the air! Our story was entitled, Where's My Mummy. In this story, a little mummy played hide and seek with his mama mummy. Some questions to ask the children about the story - What creatures did not scare the little mummy? (Bones, Glob, and Drac) What creature did not scare the little mummy? (a mouse)
After the story, Ren helped us count 6 Halloween stampers in the Mystery Bag.
Snack: Ren brought bananas, teddy grahams, and juice for snack. Thank you Ren!
Center Time: All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.
Important papers went home today. Please read and return your responses as soon as possible - thanks! Also, our party is next Monday. Parents and family members are welcome to come at 10:30. Children are to come at 9 in costume though costumes are not required.
Pictures are below. Have a great day!

Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: We had a fire drill for Choice Time. This required us to line up quickly on the number line under the EXIT sign, follow the teachers outside to the SAFE SPOT in the parking lot, and wait patiently for the teachers to count the children to make sure everyone is out of the building. It was cold outside so we tried to be speedy with our fire drill!
Circle Time: We passed around a nest in the magnifying box that I had found in my yard the other day. We talked about what might have happened to cause it to fall out of the tree. (wind, rain) and what size bird it may have belonged to. (small) We read the story Going On A Ghost Hunt. In this story, the children go through a forest, a swamp and over a bridge on their way to find some ghosts. When they find them they run quickly back the way they came, get in their house, and shut the door. They decide not to go on a ghost hunt again! Some questions to ask - What sound did it make it the forest? (crunch) What sound did it make in the swamp? (squish) What sound did the bridge make? (creak) After the story, Jacob helped us count 9 Lego People in the Mystery Bag.
Snack: Jacob brought chocolate graham dippers and juice for snack. Thank you Jacob!
Center Time: All of the centers were open and there was paint in the easel.
Next class time is our Halloween Party. Children can wear their costumes. Please keep accessories to a minimum. Parents and family members are welcome to come at 10:30. Hope to see you then!

Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: We did a fire drill and practiced "Stop, Drop and Roll." The steps we need to follow in case of a fire at preschool include - lining up on the number line under the EXIT sign, following the teachers out of the door and into the "safe spot" in the parking lot, and standing still in the "safe spot" until the teacher counts everyone to make sure they are all out of danger. We also practiced "Stop, Drop and Roll" which the children would have to do if their clothes caught on fire.
Circle Time: We passed a real nest in the magnifying box around the circle. We discussed the fact that it was a "small" nest made by a "small" bird like a wren, and not a big nest for a big bird like an eagle. We also talked about what would have happened to make the nest fall out of the tree. (wind/rain) The book we read was entitled, Going On A Ghost Hunt. It was another Halloween story. Some questions to ask would be - What sound did the children hear in the forest? (crunch) What sound did the children hear in the swamp? (squish) What sound did the children hear on the bridge? (creak) After the story, Maysen helped us count 8 lego people in the Mystery Bag.
Snack Time: Maysen brought applesauce and milk for snack. Thank you Maysen!
Center Time: All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel.
Reminder: Our Halloween party is scheduled for 10:30 on Monday, October 31st. Parents are invited to attend. Costumes for the children are encouraged but not required. Please try to keep the costume accessories to a minimum!
Have a great day! Pictures are below.

Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: We went outside for Choice Time. It was a little chilly but we encouraged the children to move around to stay warm. We only stayed outside for about 10 minutes so not very long.
Circle Time: We passed 2 different types of bugs around the circle for the children to look at - ladybugs and a stink bug. Jacob had brought in the ladybugs. He said he caught them in a tree. Thank you Jacob! The stink bug was caught by one of my students yesterday and I put him in a magnifying keeper. We also sang Rise and Shine, danced to Stop and Go, and read 2 Halloween stories. One of the stories was Five Little Pumpkins. The other was Halloween Colors. After the stories, Jackson helped us count 6 dog bones in the Mystery Bag.
Snack Time: Jackson brought Ritz crackers and peanut butter for snack. Thank you Jackson!
Center Time: All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel. Many of the children used their center time to look at the bugs again. One boy said, "These are awesome!" Some of them filled a baggie with corn they had picked off of the cob. Others just simply played. It was all fun!
Sorry no pictures today for the blog - it was a very busy day! Have a wonderful weekend!

Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: We went outside for Choice Time. We are loving this nice weather! Also, the children are really enjoying the buckeyes! They continue to find them like they are Easter eggs, pretend to make food with them, roll them on the ramps, and play with them in the sand box. For such a simple, free thing that we picked up off the ground, we are sure getting a big return for our efforts!
Circle Time: We passed around some ladybugs in a viewing container for the children to look at. We read 2 Halloween stories - 5 Little Pumpkins and Halloween Colors. These were 2 simple books. I read the 5 Little Pumpkins through by myself one time and then read it again and asked the children to read it to me. Lyndsey helped us count 6 bones out of the Mystery Bag.
Snack Time: Lyndsey brought yogurt, graham crackers and milk for snack. Thank you Lyndsey!
Center Time: All of the centers were open and there was painting at the easel. Several children spent some time looking at the ladybugs again and picking corn off of the cob.
No pictures today - we got busy playing and I ran out of time. Have a great weekend!

Here is what we did today:
Choice Time: We went outside for Choice Time - with the weather so nice we have to take advantage of it!
Circle Time: We had a scarecrow greet us on the way to the playground outside. If the children wanted, they could give him a tap as they walked by. We sang Rise and Shine. We danced to Stop and Go. We read the story, The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything. In this story, a little old lady came upon different random things as she walked home one night. She had an idea and put the things together as a scarecrow in her garden. Questions to ask the children about the story - What did the shoes do? (clomp) What did the pants do? (wiggle) What did the shirt do? (shake) What did the gloves do? (clap) What did the hat do? (nod) What did the pumpkin head do? (Boo!) When we were done with the story, Isaac helped us count 10 bananas in the Mystery Bag.
Snack Time: Isaac brought granola bars and juice for snack. Thank you Isaac!
Center Time: All of the centers were open. Instead of painting at the easel, a group mural was made with a Halloween theme to hang in our hallway.
Have a great day! Pictures of the scarecrow and the mural are below.
